Well, today begins a new phase of the work here in Morelia with the arrival of our first year-long apprentice, Jeanine Wilson. We are so glad she is here to help and we plan to put her to work as quickly as possible! She was actually able to come down with the spring breakers back in March, which is really nice because all of this isn't totally new to her. She plans to start language school as soon as possible and will probably help with the Let's Start Talking (LST) teams as well. Please pray for her as she adjusts to life here in Mexico. Pray that the Lord uses her in amazing ways to bless people and that she will grow closer to Him in this time. You can check out her thoughts and activities at her blog. I'm also going to put a link on the sidebar, just so you know.
As far as the summer goes, we are gearing up for LST and also preparing for Sam, Ann and family to head out for furlough. They leave on June 9th, the same day as the first LSTers get in. I don't know all of their schedule, but I do know they will be in Ft. Worth in June and then again the end of July/beginning of August, visiting family in other places in the middle. I'm sure they'd love to see anyone. Feel free to leave a comment and I'll pass it on to them. They'll be back in Morelia around the middle of August. Please pray for safe travel as they will be driving there and doing a fare amount of traveling for the nine weeks that they are out of the country.
One of the blessings of furlough is that it shows the church that they need to step up and take up the slack when someone is out for a while. This has definitely happened with Sam and Ann heading out. Sam has asked four of the men in the church to preach twice while he's gone and they've all agreed. We're so excited to see how the Lord is growing these men! Their cell group is also accepting the challenge and opening up their homes for the cell group while the Gonzalezes are in the States. We ask for that you pray for the entire church while Sam and Ann are out and especially for those who will be taking over some of their duties. Pray that this will be a time of amazing spiritual growth for each of them!
There are lots of other things going on, but I'll stop for now. As always, thanks for the prayers! We are so blessed by each of you.
